The Console
The console is known by various and sundry names. Social Workers or other people whose job it is to be aware of senior safety issues call these medical alert devices … Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS). Non industry people call them medical alarms, medical alert bracelets, first alert button, emergency panic button, emergency alert system and even the “Help, I’ve fallen and can’t get up” thing.The Vital-Link medical alarm base unit is a compact medical monitoring communicating device. Upon activation by the personal help button, the console, enables the Vital-Link subscribers to communicate with our medical emergency response center. Upon receipt of the alarm signal, one of our emergency response monitors will try to speak to the Vital-Link subscriber thru the two-way voice device in the console.
Caregiver
This is a person who is involved with and takes care of the well-being of a loved one, family member or friend. Caregivers often involved in making the decision about which medical alarm provider is most appropriate. It could be an aunt, uncle, mother, father, sister, brother, friend, grandmother, grandfather, wife ,husband or any person who loves and care about someone who might need a personal emergency medical alert service like Vital-Link.,

Monitors
These are our trained staff who man our 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year UL listed and approved medical monitoring center. The Vital-Link monitors will contact Emergency Medical Services (the paramedics, family, friends and neighbors in the order you have designated in advance.
Monitoring Center
The emergency response center is staffed 24/7 by highly trained Vital-Link monitors. When the panic button is pressed, a signal is transmitted to the medical alarm console in the home which then uses the phone line to send a digital medical alarm signal to the monitoring center where the calls from our seniors who need help due to a fall or some other medical emergency are answered.
Paramedics, 911, EMS, First Aid and First Alert Responders
This refers to the entities Vital-Link might call locally. They could include EMS such as police, fire and ambulance OR personal responders such as family friends and neighbors that may be dispatched by the Vital-Link monitoring center, depending on what is needed at the time of a medical emergency.
Panic Button
Also known as the pendant, medical alert bracelet, the emergency button or the thing that is pressed when our subscribers need help at the time of an emergency. The help button pendant can hang safely around your neck for easy access in an event of an emergency or can be worn on ones wrist as a medical alert wristlet. The Vital-Link personal panic buttons is an easy to press button … while at the same time are designed so as to reduce the likelihood of false activations, thereby reducing false alarms.

Help Button
This is one part of the medical alert device and medical alert service (that is meant to be worn in the shower or bath) that is often called by various names … button, pendant and/or transmitter that can be worn as a necklace pendant or wristband. The personal help button is pressed to call for help at the time of a medical emergency. When the medical alert button is pressed it transmits a signal to the console which may then be able to transmit a medical alarm signal to the Vital-Link monitoring center.
Responders
These are the entities like EMS or 911 or friends, family and neighbors who may be notified at the time of a medical emergency.
Emergency Response Center
Also known as medical monitoring center, to describe the facilities where all calls from seniors who need medical, emergency, or assistance are received. The emergency response center is staffed at all times by highly trained monitors.
Subscriber
Any adult who is chooses to receive monitoring services from the Vital-Link personal emergency response system.
Two – Way Voice System
Each Vital-Link console has a speakerphone type device that is activated when the medical alert button is pressed. This allows for the possibility of the emergency monitoring center to speak to the subscriber in the home … so that the subscriber does not need to get to the phone to call for help.
