Medical Alerts for Mom - for Dad - for any Elderly Person or Senior Citizen.
Medical Alert Devices - How They Work.
Medical Alert Systems are devices that allow senior citizens, the elderly or the disabled to get help ... without needing to get to their telephone ... to dial for help for themselves. It goes without saying, that falls and illnesses, for the most part do not occur near a telephone. If a fall, illness, dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain, smoke, fire, or an intruder occurs, all you need to do is …
Press the Medical Alert Alarm Panic Button.
Medical Alert Button: This is just a simple transmitter (kind of like a garage door opener or a TV remote) that you wear either as a medical alert bracelet on your wrist or as an elderly alert panic button pendant which is worn around your neck. The panic button is about the size of a half-dollar and weighs about an ounce. This medical alert alarm button transmits a radio type signal to a small console.
Medical Alert Console: This is a small communication device (the fancy term for a small box that is connected to your phone jack at the wall) that receives the signal from the panic button and uses your phone line to send an emergency signal to our medical alert monitoring center.
Medical Alarm Monitoring Center: Our state of the art, CSAA Five Diamond Certified, UL Listed and inspected Central Station is staffed 24 hours per day ... every day. To enhance reliability we have two monitoring centers, both located right here in America. Our monitoring center receives the medical alarm signal from the console by way of the telephone lines ... and then the help process begins.
Medical Alert System with Two Way Voice Communication: Our highly trained medical alarm monitoring staff, upon receipt of the medical alarm signal, will open up a microphone and a speaker in the console. This will allow us to TALK and LISTEN to you without you needing to get to the phone. If you tell us that you are OK (you pressed the button by mistake … or you were testing the system … or simply that you thought you might need help but are OK now), then we will do nothing further. If you are able to tell us the nature of your problem (you are dizzy… or you can’t breathe… or you have fallen), then you will direct our next actions. What you are planning for, however, is the possibility that you may be hurt or ill and in no condition to communicate. If you not able to clearly tell us what to do next or you can’t communicate at all , then we will assume that that there is an emergency and begin the emergency response procedure. The procedure that we will follow is also up to you and can be set up one of two ways:
- We can call the RESPONDERS first … your kids… your friends … your family … your neighbors … the front desk of your apartment building … the building superintendent … whomever you designate. We will ask these emergency contacts to go to your home and help you. The responders’ responsibility is to check out the situation at your home. If none of your responders are available, then we can dispatch the emergency service.
- We can call the EMERGENCY SERVICES first and get them on their way to your home. Then we can begin calling your responders in order to notify them.
The Choice is Yours!
Our Central Station will also have other vital data about you that may be useful in an emergency such as your doctor’s name and phone number, your hospital, your medical conditions and your drug allergies. This information can be provided to emergency personnel at the time of an emergency.
