Medical alert systems and the associated choices that need to be made can be quite intimidating for your elderly loved ones.  There are many companies out there, some are very good and reputable and some are far from it.  Someone not versed in the intricacies of this industry can quickly become overwhelmed and rush into a system (or company) that will fail to meet the customer’s needs.   Here are a few tips to finding the best Medical Alert System for you or your loved one.

1)      What is the your loved ones living situation?   How active of a lifestyle do they lead?  Do they often leave the house alone without the company of a friend or family member?   If this is the case and you would like to be protected beyond your own home you would want to choose a Mobile system.  This system would cover you wherever you go.

2)      More expensive does not necessarily equal better.  The simplest system at Vital-Link Medical Alert Systems is the basic landline is also the most reliable and the most popular.  Many companies will try to sell you something that you quite frankly do not need.  More and more people are abandoning their landline phone service.  This is not a problem.  An in-home cellular device works in the same way as the landline system and utilizes AT&T cell tower.

3)      Be wary of long term commitments.  Most medical alarm companies do not require you to commit long term.  There are medical alert systems companies, such as Life Alert®, that do require a three year contract.  Elderly care can change very quickly and there is no benefit to the customer to be locked into a long-term contract.  At Vital-Link there is a three-month initial commitment.  After the three months, you will be billed on a month to month basis.  You can cancel anytime, simply return the system and we will terminate the service.
